Today At DePaul Prep

Mary Jeske

November is Service Month here at DePaul Prep, and we are one week away from Thanksgiving Break. Over the break next week there will be numerous chances to help out and do service, whether it is helping out at a food pantry or shelter serving a meal, or helping an organization that is doing a clean-up or painting project.  While you are being thankful for your blessings, don’t forget to help others, as well!

YWLA’s  annual Thanksgiving food drive is now in progress.  You have until next Monday to contribute. This year we have been asked to collect pasta and pasta sauce.  NO GLASS CONTAINERS, PLEASE. CANS ONLY.  For every food item you donate you will receive a raffle ticket for a gift bag worth over $50. Food will go to Catholic Charities for distribution.

Seniors! Don’t forget, Ms. Crawford and Ms. Garay will be in 503 during lunch periods to help with college applications. Be sure to stop by and see them if you need help.

In preparation for the Kick-off Tournament at Homewood Flossmoor HS this Saturday, the Scholastic Bowl Team will practice Thursday, 11/16, that’s today at 2:50 PM in the Steamlab Room 514.  If you cannot attend practice, see Coach Oliver.

If you would like to purchase a Christmas gift for a child in need see Ms. Merkl-Deutsch before Thanksgiving break to sign up! Our goal is to provide gifts for 80 children this year!

What are you doing today after school?  Text your ride and let them know to pick you up at 3:45 so that you can stay for the DePaul Prep Open Mic event after school today in room 503.  The snacks will be first come, first served, so don’t be too late!

ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL CLUB:  We will attend the the Open Mic after school  in Room 503.

If you signed up to volunteer at the Horner Park Turkey Trot through x2VOL, make sure you get your signed waiver form to Ms. Merkl-Deutsch TONIGHT! You can find it on Schoology and email the signed form to Ms. Merkl-Deutsch.
