Exposure to and participation in the fine arts encourages critical thinking, increased global awareness, and a sense of self-discovery. Programs in the fine arts at DePaul Prep enhance the classroom experience and allow your creative mind to grow and excel.
At DePaul Prep, we believe that cultivating self-expression builds confidence and focus, which is why the arts are central to our academic curriculum. Our teachers are accomplished and professional artists who are active in their fields. They encourage creative thinking, collaboration, discipline, and bold expression — timeless and essential skills for college and beyond. We offer a broad selection of visual arts, music, and theater courses, ranging from introductory to advanced levels. Whatever our students want to create, they find the support and inspiration to do it here.
The DePaul Prep Theater Society puts up two productions a year at The Theatre School at DePaul University in one of their black box spaces. Chicago has one of the most dynamic theater scenes in the country, and our students get to take part in the storefront culture by performing in this professional and malleable space for audiences of no more than 100 people. Black box spaces like this one allow our students to truly connect with the audience on an intimate level, allowing the stories told all the intensity and focus they deserve.
