DePaul College Prep is pleased to announce that it has selected Mr. Patrick Mahoney as Director of Athletics. Mr. Mahoney brings to the position more than 15 years of experience in Catholic high school education as a coach, administrator and former athletic director at Loyola Academy and as former President of the Chicago Catholic League.
In his prior position, Mr. Mahoney managed coaching staffs for 28 boys and girls athletic teams; was responsible for more than 34,000 square feet of indoor athletic facilities and more than 50 acres of outdoor facilities on 2 campuses; negotiated vendor contracts, sponsorships and media relations for the athletic department; and represented the school with the IHSA and other regulatory organizations. During his tenure, participation in sports increased by 20%, the school’s teams won over 15 state titles with many teams consistently ranked in the top 10, and the school completed more than $3.5 million in athletic facilities improvements.

DePaul Prep conducted a nationwide search for the position with a search committee comprised of members of the school’s Board of Directors, Administrative Leadership team, parents of student athletes and representatives from DePaul University’s Athletics and Student Affairs Departments.

Mr. Mahoney holds a BA in Business Administration from Central Michigan University where he was a Division I baseball player and scholarship recipient, and a M.Ed. in Education with a Type 75 Administrative Certificate from Loyola University. He was inducted into the Loyola Academy Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Chicago Catholic League Hall of Fame in 2011.
Mr. Mahoney will begin his responsibilities as Director of Athletics at DePaul College Prep on October 15.
