The Rams lost a heart breaker on Thursday afternoon to a quite prestigious Providence Catholic program by the score of 3-0 in extra innings.
The program has three levels Varsity, Sophomore, Frosh/Soph, and competes in the Chicago Catholic League. Coach Haas enters his 15th season as the varsity head coach, and the accolades show. Haas has raised seven IHSA Regional Championships and two IHSA Sectional Championships in his Gordon Tech / DePaul Prep career but more importantly teaches his players to live out the culture of the program.
Following their loss to St. Laurence, the Rams were ready to take it to the Ramblers with their elite freshman Luke Oblen taking the mound for DePaul College Prep. A prototypical pitchers’ duel was on display in Glenview Tuesday afternoon with both teams logging a total of seven hits on the afternoon. The Ramblers unfortunately outlasted the Rams by the score of 3-2.
DePaul Prep was simply not ready to play Monday afternoon against the highly touted Vikings of St. Laurence. With an opportunity to take it to a Viking team that is young in and of itself the Rams could not take advantage making five errors on the day and with DePaul Prep pitchers walking nine.
