SAILING

DePaul College Prep sailing is an inclusive, co-ed, two-season sport.  No previous sailing experience is necessary to join. There are opportunities to sail at the varsity level as well as with a JV/developmental program for less experienced sailors. We sail in both the fall and spring seasons. The fall season starts just after Labor Day and continues until just before Thanksgiving. The spring season begins with the spring thaw in March and continues until Memorial Day.  A student may sail for one or both seasons.

We practice at Belmont Harbor with students from several other area high schools.  Practices are 2-3 nights a week from 4-7pm and Regatta competitions are held on weekends. Sailors pay a fee each season (fall and spring) directly to the Chicago Yacht Club (via CYC website) which covers boats and facilities, coaching, insurance, etc.

DePaul College Prep competes as a member of the Interscholastic Sailing Association and is a member of MISSA, the Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association.  They are the governing body and the rules, rankings, results, etc can be found on their website.

For registration please visit the Chicago Yacht Club website.
