At DePaul College Prep, we know our students learn in many different ways. Experiential learning opportunities present students with experiences outside of the classroom in which they can develop skills for lifelong learning, learn to adapt to complex and novel situations, and much more.

Educational, Service or Cultural Immersion trips provide both faculty and students with exciting memories interwoven with academic concepts. Trips are designed to stimulate student interest, inquiry, and provide opportunities for sound growth and development.

DePaul Prep Experiential Learning Trips expose students to the broad world beyond the classroom, reinforce academic concepts, and revitalize students’ relationships with schooling and experience living out our Core Values of Faith, Respect, Excellence, Service, and Health.

Summer 2024: Peru

Peru is an awe-inspiring portal to the world of the Inca, one of the world’s great ancient civilizations.

Spellbinding sites like Machu Picchu, informative exhibits at Larco Museum, and monuments like Sacsayhuaman bring it all into focus. The Peruvian culture of today is no less compelling—get a glimpse at one of its colorful markets.

Summer 2024: Scotland & Ireland

These lands were once home to ancient Celtic and Gaelic tribes; today their histories blend comfortably into the modern day.

Step into the Middle Ages on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile and under the towering spire of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. In Belfast, old conflicts have given way to an influx of restored 19th-century architecture and a thriving arts scene.

Summer 2024: France

From one corner of France to the other, see the many shades of French culture.

Paris is the center of it all—feel its significance in the intricate architecture of the Eiffel Tower and the smile of the Mona Lisa. Down south, Biarritz has grown from a fishing village to a world-famous seaside resort. In Provence and the Riviera, the picturesque landscapes recall France’s artistic heritage.

Summer 2024: Japan

Japan has had many identities through the centuries; its story is a fascinating one.

Tokyo is the modern-day center of pop culture and business, while Kyoto remains the most traditional of the big cities. The country has unsurpassed natural beauty—see it from the window of the high-speed shinkansen train and in the majestic lakes and mountains of Hakone National Park.

Summer 2024: Iceland

Take advantage of round-the-clock daylight during the summer in this otherworldly place of dramatic beauty. Revel in the geothermal wonders of Iceland—Blue Lagoon hot springs, volcanic craters and subarctic fauna. From the capital Reykjavik you will travel the popular Golden Circle and see Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area. From there, continue on to the famous black-sand beaches of Vik and the Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur.

Summer 2023: Galapagos/Ecuador

On this school trip, you will tour amazing sites in Ecuador as you tour Quito and then explore the uniquely beautiful Galapagos Islands. Enjoy snorkeling in Concha Perla, a guided excursion through the Sierra Negra Volcano and Las Tintoreras, a soccer match with locals, an Andean music dinner show in Otavalo, participating in a Pachamanca ceremony, and visiting sites like the Independence and Presidential Palace, Santa Cruz Island, Charles Darwin Research Station, Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, Otavalo Market, Peguche Waterfall, and Cuicocha Volcanic Lake. Witness some of Ecuador's most extraordinary landmarks and observe some of the Galapagos Island's most fascinating creatures in their natural habitat, such as giant tortoises, marine iguanas, Galapagos penguins, sally lightfoot crabs, green sea turtles, and resting white tip reef sharks.

Summer 2023: Switzerland & Berlin (STEAM)

Germany is leading the global movement toward sustainable practices—from clean energy, to sustainable development, to farms of the future—and is responsible for some of the world’s most forward-thinking approaches to technology and energy. Learn about Berlin’s advanced sustainability efforts and ecologically friendly innovations as you experience the vibrant city’s history and culture. Walk along the remains of the Berlin Wall, sit down for dinner with locals, and explore creative solutions for sustainability. In this formerly divided city, come together with other students and teachers from to focus on Creating a Sustainable Future.

Summer 2023: Costa Rica

Each day of your Language Immersion Tour is built around a different theme that ties together daily language lessons, cultural activities and interactions with locals. Language lessons provide students with the cultural context and relevant vocabulary they’ll need to navigate each experiential activity. Through it all, your Language Immersion Program Director will be with you, supporting your students’ language learning and highlighting each breakthrough moment.
