Honor Societies
DePaul Prep is pleased to offer eight distinct, nationally recognized honor societies to our students. These societies recognize academic excellence, leadership, and service—qualities that help students stand out in college and career paths. Being a member opens doors to scholarships, internships, and networking opportunities with like-minded peers and professionals. Honor societies also encourage personal growth by promoting community involvement, responsibility, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
While all of our societies follow the same application and service deadlines, each society has its own requirements and expectations. Click the links for each society below to learn more.

National Honor Society
Chapter Advisor: Ms. Bernadette Raspante and Mr. Jackson Ford
Membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Our chapter has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character in conjunction with DePaul College Prep’s Core Values of Faith, Respect, Excellence, Service, and Health. These ideals are considered as the basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student—one who excels in all of these areas.
Membership, however, is more than an honor. It is an ongoing responsibility and an obligation to continue to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that result in a student’s selection. Membership also carries a responsibility to the chapter. If our NHS chapter is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved.
The prerequisites for application are as follows:
- Current junior or senior
- Maintenance of a cumulative weighted 3.9 GPA
- Recommendation from an academic teacher
- Maintain a good academic and behavioral record with the Deans’ Office. Any prior offenses or incidents may disqualify a student from application.
If accepted into NHS, students are expected to complete and adhere to the following:
- Completion of at least 20 service hours via outside, non-profit organizations prior to the given deadline. Students are responsible for logging their hours via MobileServe.
- Members are expected to be present at all meetings and events and communicate any pre-scheduled conflicts in a timely manner. Tardiness at 3 meetings or events will qualify as an unexcused absence. Any student with 3 unexcused absences at NHS meetings will be dismissed from the chapter.
- Remain in good behavioral standing with the Deans’ Office. Any honor society student who receives a Tier 2 offense and/or Saturday detention will be put on probation. A second Tier 2 and/or Saturday detention within a given school year will result in a student’s dismissal from the society.
- Exemplifying DePaul College Prep’s Core Values of Faith, Respect, Excellence and Service and Health at all times. If a student fails to adhere to these values, they may be dismissed from the chapter.
NHS students may be asked to fulfill additional requirements or meet additional standards during the school year. Qualified members will be inducted into NHS in the spring. One must remain in good academic and behavioral standing to remain an active member.
Application, Induction, and Expectations
All communication about the induction process and requirements will be held between the student and chapter advisor only. Given that students are striving to become an active member in these prestigious organizations, it is the responsibility of the student to stay on top of their application requirements, meeting schedules, and communication with the advisor.
Applications will open in the fall. For more information, students should contact the chapter advisors listed above, Britt Parker, Assistant Director of Student Activities, or Chris Petersen, Director of Student Activities.
